JV Lions open season with big win

By Donnie A. Lucas The JV Lions opened the football season in Colorado City last Thursday, bringing home a 44-6 victory. Albany will travel to Dublin this week for a Thursday game at the Lions’ new stadium near the high school on Hwy. 6 south of downtown.

Jr. high teams to start

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lady Cubs volleyball season started this week with games hosted in Albany against Woodson, and Cub football is slated to kick off on Thursday (today) in Dublin. Results of the volleyball games were not available at press time but will be reported next week.

Lady Bulldogs prepare for district play

Lady Lions dominate in last 3 games, post 8-1 record

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lady Lion volleyball team picked up three more wins last week, including opening the district race in Ranger. Albany hosted Woodson on Tuesday, earning a 25-9, 25-7, 25-13 win to go to 8-1 for the season.

By Donnie A. Lucas A trio of Albany cross country girls will run at the first meet of the season next Wednesday, Sept. 2 in Haskell. The meet is being conducted in flights throughout the day to reduce the number of runners participating at the same time.

Albany outscores Hawley in first scrimmage

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lion varsity football squad made a good first showing last Thursday during a scrimmage against the Bearcats in Hawley. The Lions scored three times to one during the controlled portion of the scrimmage, and they outscored the Bearcats 21-6 in the live quarter.
