The Lady Bulldogs have lost the last two games in three sets against Benjamin and Woodson.

Moran High School volleyball coach Jo Hise said even though they lost the games, it gave the team a chance to work on their rotation and working each player into rotation.

“We have been focusing on our new libero play, and we’re looking forward to many successes playing a libero this year,” Hise reported.

The libero is a player specializing in defensive skills, wearing a contrasting colored jersey from teammates.

When the ball is not in play, the libero can replace any back-row player, without prior notice to officials.

Hise added that with the UIL not allowing tournaments this year, the team has been able to pick up three games a week instead of two.

“We are trying not to take much time off between games so we are prepared for district,” Hise said.

On Saturday, Sept. 5, the Lady Bulldogs play at home against Newcastle for district play.

“Newcastle always has a strong team, but we are preparing mentally to play our best,” Hise said.

She reminds fans that gym seating is 50 percent capacity with parents and families getting first priority.

Spectators are asked to social distance, and masks are allowed but not required.
