The JV Lions opened the football season in Colorado City last Thursday, bringing home a 44-6 victory.

Albany will travel to Dublin this week for a Thursday game at the Lions’ new stadium near the high school on Hwy. 6 south of downtown.

Kickoff will follow the two junior high games at about 6:30 p.m.

Fans must have a ticket, priced at $3 each, obtained from the Dublin school website prior to entrance. No ticket office will be open at the stadium.

The website address is www.dublinisd.us. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the area to obtain tickets for the JV game.

All those attending the game must wear masks throughout the entire game due to school rules and the level of the coronavirus in that county.

The limit for the visitors stands has been reduced to 800 spectators, which should not pose a problem for Albany fans.

Albany JV coach David Fairchild was pleased with the win last week in Colorado City.

“This was a good first outing and win for us,” Fairchild said. “ I thought we played hard, and our backs ran hard. We had too many penalties, but overall it was a good win.”

The Lions scored on a four-yard run by Caden Price in the first quarter. Price also ran over the two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.

The second tally came on the last play of the first quarter on an 88-yard pass play from Lute Wheeler to Adam Hill to push the lead to 14-0. The conversion attempt failed.

Price scored again on a 55-yard carry in the second quarter, with Samuel Rosas running the two-pointer.

Just before the half, Lanxton Viertel scored on a two-yard run, with Price adding the two-pointer to give the Lions a 30-6 lead at the half.

Albany ended the Wolves’ opening drive in the second half when Rosas forced a fumble, which was recovered by Bryson Herr-ing. Albany scored on a three-yard carry by Rosas who also carried the two-pointer to bump the lead to 38-6.

The final tally was set up by an interception by Hill, who then capped the Albany drive with a 12-yard carry for the score.
