The Albany Lions golf team is headed to the Class 2A state tournament for the third year in a row after finishing third at the Region II-2A tournament. Albany, which finished third at state last year, will tee up Monday-Tuesday, April 29-30 at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin for this year’s state tournament.

Haskell to insure position The Albany Lions put themselves on the brink of qualifying for the Class 2A baseball playoffs Friday, April 12 with a 12-2 win over Anson. The Lions (12-2 overall, 6-2 District 8-2A) entered their final home game on Tuesday, April 16 needing to beat Haskell to clinch.

The Albany Lady Lions softball team squeezed in three games in five days as they approach their final game of the regular season. Albany (8-4) closes out the district schedule at 5:00 p.m.

The Moran athletic year is down to tennis this spring as three boys players are preparing for the upcoming District 13-1A tournament. Singles player Chase Murk and doubles partners Caleb York and Ellis Hise will compete Thursday, April 18 in the Santa Anna tournament, which will be played in Early and Brownwood.

Albany’s Kiana Roberson and Braylyn Abbate have been named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-Stategirlsbasketballteam. Roberson earned firstteam honors with Abbate named to the second team.

Albany Junior High tennis players conducted their first practice session Friday, April 12 after the conclusion of the track and field season. Coach M.J.

Two more Albany senior student-athletes made their college choices recently with Tyler Chapman signing to play baseball at Tyler Junior College, while Jaxson Hoel committed to play football at McMurry.

TheAlbanyLionstennis team got its final tuneup before the district tournament Thursday, April 11 with a partial lineup competinginaround-robin format held by Abilene Christian at Rose Park Tennis Center. Albany will return to Rose Park Monday-Tuesday, April 22-23 for the District 10-2A tournament.

The Albany junior high tennis program will start practices Friday, April 12, according to Coach M.J. Reneau.
