HONORABLE JUDGE GEORGE P. KAZEN

Judge George P. Kazen, respected jurist, outstanding contributor to the community, loving father, grandfather, and friend died on April 27, 2021. He died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family.

Judge Kazen was the grandchild of Lebanese immigrants. He was born in Laredo, Texas on February 29, 1940, to Judge E. James Kazen and Drusilla Perkins Kazen.

He married Barbara Ann Sanders of Albany, Texas.

JEANETTE HOLSON

Jeanette Holson, age 99 of Albany, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 20 in the Albany Cemetery with Pastor Paul Johnston officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Jeanette Dorothy Mett­ing was born Aug. 13, 1921 in Yorktown, Texas to parents Herman Metting and Louise Wehe Metting. 

ALMA CLEVELAND

Alma Rae (Bear) Law Cleveland, 91, of Albany died Friday, Apr. 30, 2021 in an Abilene hospice facility. Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 4, at the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde.

Alma was born Dec. 12, 1929 in Ibex to James and Ila (Bowman) Law. She graduated from Albany High School and attended Tarleton State University. She married Warren D. (Skid) Cleveland in Albany in 1956. 

Alma loved her cats and her family, caring for many of her relatives in Albany over the years.

NELDA “CHARLEEN” DONAWAY

Nelda Charleen Davis was born on Dec. 17, 1946 to Charles and Aileen Davis in Baird, Texas. She went to school in Putnam, Texas where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. 

While in school, she met and fell in love with L.C. Donaway. They were married on Aug. 12, 1966 in Putnam. Together they had two daughters, Gay and Joy. 

MAX DAVIS

Max Davis, age 69, Albany native and longtime Alto, New Mexico resident died in the evening, Saturday, April 24, 2021, surrounded by his family. 

Graveside services with Military Honors and Masonic Rites were held Wednesday, April 28 in Hart Cemetery, south of Breckenridge, with Mark Wilcox officiating. Interment was under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

DON STUTSMAN

Don Stutsman, age 72 of Moran, passed away Friday, Mar. 12, 2021. Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Mar. 20 at the Moran Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Larry Briley officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Donald Edward Stutsman was born Aug. 8, 1948 in Electra, Texas to his parents, William Edward Stutsman and Donna Jeanne Thiele Stutsman. On Mar. 19, 1978, Don married Ellen Marie Parrish in Moran, Texas.

NEVA HALL

Neva Hall, age 88 of Roby, passed away, Thursday, March 4, 2021. A private funeral service for family only will be held at Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Neva Joyce Rogers was born on April 26, 1932 in Jayton, Texas to parents, Leslie Rogers and Lea Honor Kidd Rogers. She was raised in Peacock, Texas, where her family farmed cotton. 

MARIE JOHNSTON

Marie English Johnston, 94, passed away on March 4, 2021, in Ft. Worth, TX. Marie was the last child to be raised in Shackelford County’s Sedwick community. Though she traveled extensively, she spent most of her life in Houston, Austin, and Abilene before moving to Ft. Worth.

Marie was born on Christmas Eve, 1926. She was the oldest daughter of Naomi Criswell English and William Lucas (Bill) English of Sedwick. 

GERALD BRADDY

Gerald Dean Braddy passed peacefully on Feb. 20, 2021. A viewing and celebration of his life was held at the First Christian Church of Albany, Tx on Mar. 1. Graveside services followed under the direction of Girdner Funeral Home of Abilene, Tx. 

Gerald was born Feb. 16, 1946 to Berlin Louis and Mary “Pace” Braddy in Albany, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 54 years, Patsy Lynn Braddy. 

JUNE ARENDT

Beverly June Arendt of Hico and Stephenville Texas went to be with her Lord at the age of 96 on Feb. 18, 2021. 

She was born in Shackelford County on Sept. 4, 1924 to E.D. and Mollie Hale. She grew up in Albany, Texas where she met her best friend for life, H.C. Arendt. 

During WW II, June worked as a riveter at Shepherd Air Force Base. Soon after H.C. returned from serving in the Army during the war, they were married on Oct. 11, 1945. They enjoyed 64 wonderful years together.
