Sam Conway, age 81 of Albany, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 10 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Turner officiating. Interment followed in the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Sam Edward Conway was born Sept. 14, 1940 in Tampa, Florida to Archie James Conway and Mary Miranda Livingston Conway. Sam worked for Coca Cola for 37 years in Tampa until he retired in 1995.

On Oct. 25, 1986, Sam married the love of his life, Sandra Kay Russell in Tampa, Florida. The Conways moved to Albany in 1995, where they have been long time members of First Baptist Church and the Albany Lions Club.

Sam never knew a stranger and always talked to everyone. He loved his children, grandchildren and life in general. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and five brothers.

Sam is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandra Conway of Albany; two daughters, Debra Lynn Guidry and husband Keith of Covington, Louisiana, Denise Michele Mercado of Wesley Chapel, Florida; and their mother, Donna Conway; two step daughters, Shari Lynn Jorgensen of River View, Florida, Donna Kay Neubig of Tampa, Florida; six grandchildren, Geoffrey Guidry and wife Zoe, Genna Ellis and husband Dexter, Desiree Lima, Nicolas Mercado, Kenneth Koopman, Briana Whorton; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pete Perez and Jose Mercado.

The family would like to thank all of Sam’s doctors at Fresenius Kidney Care in Abilene for the wonderful care they gave to him.
