Refreshed galleries and a light renovation at the Old Jail Art Center are debuting this week during Hearts forArts, but many OJAC members will see them for the first time along with two new exhibitions opening Saturday night, Feb. 17.

Shackelford and Throckmorton county extension services are combining efforts for another adult education program about cattle production. Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said the program will cover cow-calf management.

Denson’s contract Moran FFA student MaeKayla Kersey claimed reserve champion Branvieh heifer last weekend at the San Angelo Stock Show despite being unable to step into the show ring. Kersey, a freshman, received an assist from schoolmate Rayni Vinson, who led the heifer into the arena.

Because of staffing at the Hendrick Regional Blood Center, this month’s blood drive in Albany will move from the usual Thursday afternoon time slot to a Monday, set for Monday, Feb. 26 instead of the original Feb.

Albany’sCubScoutPack 255 has rescheduled its annual Pinewood Derby for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3 at the Scout Hut.

Albany’s Jaci Chapman andMoran’sTerraThompson have received the Good Citizen award from the Lee’sLegionChapterofthe DaughtersoftheAmerican Revolution. The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.

Several Albany High School students competed in the Wylie Valentine UIL Classic last Saturday, bringinghomebothmedals and ribbons. Albany students placed in all five of the journalism events, as well as math, computer science, and science.

Albany FFA students had a busy week at the San Angelo Stock Show, with more than 40 swine and cattle exhibited last week. In the Junior Gilt show, Emily Schedule with a Duroc and Maddie Stapp with a Yorkshire both placed fourthintheirclasses.
