Soloists perform at contest

Division I ratings A group of eight band students competed in the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest held at Wylie High School on Saturday. Three of the soloists brought back Division I medals, with the other five all earning a Division II on a rating scale of 1 through 5.

MuchofMondaynight’s hour-long meeting of the ShackelfordCountyHospital District board of directors was spent considering proposals from the Texas County and District Retirement System,although action was tabled until next month. TCDRS representative Kristina Fox went through the services that are offered, stating that there are 831 Texas counties and districts, including water, hospital, appraisal, and emergency service districts, currently participating in the program.

Livestock owners asked to update contacts

The Shackelford County Sheriff ’s Office is seeking help from county landowners and stock raisers in updating their contact information.

Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Price said land transfers and leases have rendered obsolete parts of the department’s contact list for who to notify in case livestock wind up on the wrong side of a fence.

“The whole purpose is to keep the animals from being strays,” Price said. “We’d have to house, feed, and eventually auction them off if they’re stray animals. Our book is old and inaccurate, and needs to be updated.
