Four Albany students who earned seats on the All-Region bands for high school and junior high during tryouts in December will play in separate concerts overthenextfewdays. Eighth graders Charlee Patterson and Karlyn Thompson earned seats on the junior high All-Area band.

Filing period to open Jan. 17 for local elections

With the filing period for local elections opening next Wednesday, Jan. 17 and those elections coming up on May 4, county clerk Cheri Hawkins reminds local voters that they can apply for an “annual ballot” for 2024 that will cover both this year’s state and national elections, as well as the local decisions.

ThomasKeithHumber, a long-time Albany resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 27 in Frisco, Texas. Tom was born onApril 14, 1936, at the family homestead on the farm owned by his parents, Walter and Lena Belle Humber. He was the oldest of the three siblings – Tom, Dick, and Harriet.

Bridge could reopen this month

The mile-long bridge on US Highway 180 over Hubbard Creek Reservoir has been closed to traffic since Dec. 22 following an emergency inspection prompted by debris being observed falling from underneath the west end.
