Chest board meets Wednesday

Withthe2023campaign in the rear view mirror, Albany Chest board members met on Wednesday to review the applications and assign amounts to each beneficiary, with 24 organizations expected receive checks in the next couple of weeks. Asurge in year-end giving put the drive over the $45,000 goal, and directors are pleased that they won’t have to cut the tentative numbers that they talked about at the beginning of the campaign.

Property tax payments due Jan. 31

As is typical, property tax payments at the Shackelford County Appraisal District accelerated just before the end of the year and have continued to come in steadily, according to chief appraiser Clayton Snyder. “Collections started off a little slow in October and November but have increased significantly in December,” Snyder said on Tuesday.
