Moran ISD will be on Thanksgiving break all next week.

The break begins with the end of classes on Thursday, Nov. 17. Classes will resume Monday, Nov. 28.

Moran held its annual Thanksgiving meal Wednesday, Nov. 16, with parents invited to have lunch with their students.

District Contest

Moran FFA students competed at the Big Country District Leadership Development Event on Monday, Nov. 14 at Cisco.

“It was a great contest,” Moran FFA adviser Minnie Denson said. “I’m extremely proud of these kids.”

The team of Alayna Baker, Emily Murk, Tyler Waddell, Vivi Green, and Connor Hail placed fifth in Ag Advocacy.

In Ag Issues, the team of Chloe Hendricks, Ellis Hise, Allen Hebel, and Cotten Campbell finished sixth.

The Senior Skills team of Alyssa Allred, LeAnna Sikes, Kacenda Thompkins, and Jayla Bussell took eighth place.

Sarah Mendoza placed 10th in Greenhand Creed Reading. In Senior Creed Reading, Chase Murk finished 11th.

Veterans Honored

Moran students honored local veterans with a special program on Thursday, Nov. 10.

“The Veterans Day program went very well,” principal Joe Hise said. “We had several guests, including a state trooper and Officer Lee, who both spoke. We also had guests from American Legion Post 423 in Cross Plains.”

Several Moran students took part in the program, with elementary students performing songs. Pre-K and kindergarten students sang “I Love You Red White and Blue,” while fourth graders sang “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” fifth graders sang “Danny Boy,” and sixth graders sang “America the Beautiful.”

Boy Scout Troop 63 members Ellis Hise and James Hise served as color guard for the ceremony.

High school students Alyssa Allred, Vivi Green, and Daphne Crews read letters from a book of war letters.

Moran graduate Jeff Martin performed “An American Soldier” to close the program.
