Group returns from Africa

Grant Head, Susan Jones, Hunter Owen, and Madison Ratliff recently returned from a mission trip to Namayumba, Uganda with Live Missions, a Christian organization founded to educate and empower Christ’s followers to share the gospel through intentional discipleship.

FBC Messy Olympics, JAM pool party scheduled

First Baptist Church members plan to take part in the Chamber of Commerce organized Back-to-School Bash on Thursday, Aug. 9. Chamber office manager Mary Beth Jones has asked churches to provided food and fellowship at the City Park from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Aug.

Aug. 14 last day for city pool to open

Although the thermometer may not yet agree, according to the calendar summer is winding down, and the Albany city swimming pool will close for the season in less than two weeks. “The pool will be closing on Tuesday, Aug. 14,” said Dakota Fowler, who manages the pool.

3-week Day Camp to start next Monday

ResourceCare Summer Day Camp staff is preparing for the upcoming threeweek event that starts next Monday, July 9, and there is still room for more children to be included.

Local ranch hosts ChinaAid family camp

Thirty-five children from China and North Korea have spent the last week at Stasney’s Cook Ranch in Albany enjoying some rest and relaxation at a family retreat sponsored by ChinaAid.

Old Jail plans Fandangle events

The staff at the Old Jail Art Center has three special events scheduled during June in addition to the current summer art exhibits and displays of various items from the museum’s collection and archives. A Solar Round-Up Family Festival takes place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23.
