MISD starts spring break with ‘Fling’
Moran ISD got a jump start on spring break Wednesday, March 6 with its annual Spring Fling at Bulldog Field. “We had a really good turnout,” Moran principal Jo Hise said.
4-H gets in some ‘Fast Fashion’
ShackelfordCounty4-H members took part in a “Fast Fashion” workshop Thursday, March 7 at Closet Angels. The program involved putting together fashionable outfits from used, recycled, and second-hand garments.
Moran athletes run in first track meet
Moran opened its high school track schedule Friday, March 8 at Ring Star. Juniorhighandelementary athletesalsocompeted lastweek.Thoseresultswill be published next week.
Classes to resume Monday
Albany ISD students and staff are out of school this week for the spring break holidays but will all return to the classroom on Monday, March 18. Classes will resume at normal times on Monday, with the elementary classes starting at 7:55 a.m.
NSES students plant garden
Nancy Smith Elementary students got to try their hands at gardening on Friday prior to spring break. New garden beds were provided for each grade leveltoplantseedlingsthat they started in January.
Council approves $3.66M budget

Also accepted was the 20222023 audit report.
Heavy trucks prohibited on 8 county roads
Almost exactly one year after Shackelford County commissioner Cody Jordan first received authorization to post speed limits of 35 MPH on several roads in Precinct 4 because of damage caused by tractor-trailer rigs carrying rocks from the quarries, the commissioners approved a motion to actually prohibit through traffic of heavy trucks on eight county roads in that precinct. The action was taken after a legally publicized public hearing held Monday morning, March 11 prior to the regular commissionersmeeting.Noone from the public was present to protest or comment on the proceedings.
FGSUD plans to cancel election
The Fort Griffin Special UtilitiesDistrictannounced this week on Tuesday that its May 4 election would be cancelled. No other details were available at press time, but it is believed that longtime board member Burrell McKelvain will be withdrawinghiscandidacy.
Third Thursday slated March 21

Construction will hamper traffic at elementary school
School traffic on Griffin Road near Nancy Smith Elementary School may be a little challenging during the first part of April as new metal utility poles are set into place on the west side of the street.
