Moran athletes run in first track meet

Moran opened its high school track schedule Friday, March 8 at Ring Star.

Juniorhighandelementary athletesalsocompeted lastweek.Thoseresultswill be published next week.

At Rising Star, the boys placedninthwith10points, while the girls were 11th with seven points.

“For the first meet of the year, the kids did well,” coach John Hughes said. “Thereweresomesurprises from kids that I didn’t expect.”

For the boys, the 1600 relay of Garrett Hamilton, ChaseMurk,MattBristow, and Ellis Hise finished fourth in 4:52.37. Hise was fifth in the triple jump at 35-0 ½ .

For the girls, Emma McCullough was fourth in the 100 hurdles (24.90), LeAnna Sikes was fifth in the discus (76-0) and BradeeStautzenbergerwas sixth in the 100 (15.53).
