Classes to resume Monday

Albany ISD students and staff are out of school this week for the spring break holidays but will all return to the classroom on Monday, March 18.

Classes will resume at normal times on Monday, with the elementary classes starting at 7:55 a.m. and the secondary school following at 8:00 a.m.

Students and staff will be off again for Good Friday, March 29 and the Monday following Easter on April 1.

Both holidays were designated as bad weather days on the school calendar, but no days have had to be used for inclement weather, and the two Easter holidays remain intact.

Students are required by the Texas Education Agency to attend a total of 75,600 minutes during a school year. Even in case of missed days, such as the day classes were released for the state football game, local district included a few more minutes each school day in order to accumulate a buffer.

The district is currently at the midway point of the fifth six-weeks grading period. The final day of classes is set for May 23, with a 12:30 p.m. dismissal time. Graduation is scheduled for May 24.
