Members of the Albany Church of Christ will hold a celebration this Sunday, April 28, at 6:00 p.m. at The Feed Store in honor of the graduating seniors who have been active in the Church of Christ.

A total of 25 Albany FFA students competed on seven Career Development Event teams at the Tarleton Area IV CDE contest at Stephenville on Wednesday, April 17.  District winners for CDEs were also named at the TSU Area IV event.

The Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Association met twice during April to begin making plans for next year’s county livestock show.

One hundred and ten vehicles entered the 2019 Albany Classic Car Show hosted by members of Albany’s Shifters Car Club last Saturday, April 20, and the judges awarded prizes in 26 classes and also in several specialty categories. “The car show was awesome,” said show coordinator Robert Snyder.

Fort Griffin State Historic Site will hold a Stars and Skies party this Saturday, April 27, at 8:30 p.m. The forecast calls for a low around 61 degrees, mostly clear skies, and a slight south wind. The sun should set at 8:15 p.m.

Melba Graham had worked at Albany High School for 11 years before she and her husband Jim died in an automobile accident last June.

Everyone is invited to a May Day Family Festival hosted by the Old Jail Art Center on Saturday, May 4, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. “Bring the whole family and explore the ancient and contemporary May Day Celebration of Spring,” invited education director Erin Whitmore.

The city of Albany will receive a sales tax allotment of $33,565 from the state this April. The amount is down 10.54 percent from the $37,522 payment received in April 2018. Payments to date for 2019 to the city of Albany are $206,214, up by 16.

This is basically for the seniors in our community because we seem to be the few ones who still have AT&T land lines and use them. For some reason, we seem to get any and many 800# calls. This happens even if we’ve signed on to the “DO NOT CALL LIST.

A number of Albany track athletes are advancing to the Region I-2A Track and Field Meet Friday and Saturday in Levelland, with the chance to punch their ticket to the state track in May.
