FFA teams compete in contests

A total of 25 Albany FFA students competed on seven Career Development Event teams at the Tarleton Area IV CDE contest at Stephenville on Wednesday, April 17. 

District winners for CDEs were also named at the TSU Area IV event.

None of the Albany teams advanced from area competition to the state level, but other Albany CDE teams are headed to a state level contest at TSU today and two contests at Texas Tech on Friday.

The Environmental and Natural Resources (ENR) state CDE contest takes place at Tarleton today, and the Albany team of Tyler Beard, Bryan Jones, Brady Karl, and Kasey Cauble are one of 28 teams entered.

Tyler Beard, Ryder Wilkins, Brady Karl, and Jackson Chapman are the Albany Cotton CDE team, while Blanton Belcher, Bryan Jones, and Cade Neve make up the Plant ID team that will compete at the state CDEs at Texas Tech tomorrow, April 26.

Results from Area IV and Big Country District CDEs are listed below.

Range

The team of Blaine Kayga, Cade Neve, Bryan Jones, and Brodey Jones won seventh in Area IV, which was only one place away from advancing to the state contest.

The local students were the first place team in the Big Country District. 

Kayga was the top scoring individual in the Big Country, followed by Neve in second, Bryan Jones in third, and Brodey Jones in fourth.

FBM

The Farm Business Management team of Seth Hale, Kamryn Browning, and Ty Everitt placed third in the Big Country District.

Hale was the ninth high individual in the district and Browning took 10th.

Livestock

The team of Brayden Sullivan, Morgan Garcia, and Conner Clark placed 12th in district. 

Horse

Addie Denton, Lizzie Chavez, and Carli Edgar were seventh among district teams. 

Land

Blanton Belcher, Brady Karl, Jackson Chapman, and Ryder Wilkins placed fourth in district in the team division of Land.

Vet Science

The team of Alayna Koemel, Addison Asher, Julia Bowman, and Taylor Scott took fifth in district.

Koemel and Asher tied for 10th high individual in the Big Country District.

Homesite

Riley Green, Tyler Beard, Braden Davis, and Kasey Cauble made up the Albany Homesite team that took eighth place in Area IV and second in district.

Green, Beard, Davis, and Cauble placed fifth through eighth, respectively, in individual high scores in the district.
