September sales tax numbers down

By Lynsi Musselman Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar released September state sales tax revenue amounts for counties across the state of Texas, including Shackelford County. The City of Albany will receive a sales tax allotment of $34,785 from the state this month. The amount is down 8.

PTO makes call to cancel Fall Fest

Nerd Night

Members of the Albany High School band have been having their own dress-up days for Monday night practice times, with many of the students attired as nerds this week. Band Booster Club members provide snow cones at the end of the rehearsals.

Bethel Patch planned Saturday

Blessing for animals slated Oct. 3

First Christian Church will celebrate a Blessing of the Animals service on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10:00 a.m. on the south side lawn of the church.  “Everyone is welcome to bring their furry friends for a word of blessing at this short and meaningful service,” said pastor Brad McBee.

4-H sewing club to meet Oct. 4

By Lynsi Musselman The Shackelford County 4-H Club hosted its first sewing clinic on Sunday, Sept. 20. Shackelford County extension agent Kloey Painter said the class was led by Johnnie Hise, the Texas 4-H Fashion and Interior Design Ambassador and Shackelford County club secretary.

Park cancels reenactment

By Lynsi Musselman This time of year several hundred area elementary and middle school students and teachers normally prepare to make the annual trip to Living History School Day at Fort Griffin State Historic Site for a reenactment of day-to-day life in the real Old West.
