Golf Club meeting, tournament set Saturday

Members of the Albany Golf Club are encouraged to attend the club’s annual business meeting at the municipal golf course on Saturday, Oct. 10, and then stay and play in the Championship Tournament starting at 1:00 p.m. that afternoon.

“We will meet for a brisket sandwich lunch on Saturday, at about 11:30 a.m., and have a short meeting to elect or reelect board members,” said member James Waters. 

Waters explained that the directors who serve on the golf club’s board act as an advisory board to the City of Albany, because the course is owned by the city.

“We use the funding that is raised by membership fees and other sources to make improvements at the course, with city approval,” said Waters.

Tournament Details

Participants in the club championship tournament will tee off at 1:00 p.m.

Organizers are planning a senior division, a regular division, and a women’s division.

A sign-up sheet is posted at the Club House, and the tournament is free of charge for all Club members.

“Members can just show up to play on Saturday, but pre-registering helps us know how many sandwiches to fix,” said Waters.

Tee time on Sunday is also set for 1:00 p.m., with 18 holes of golf scheduled on each of the two days of the tournament. 

A basic family membership in the Golf Club is $35 per month.
