Dear Editor: Early voting will have begun by the time this is published, but perhaps there will be many Republican voters who might find this helpful. The Republican Party of Texas has 13 primary ballot propositions this year.

I am amazed at your hospitality, love, care, and kindness. You have made me feel so welcome in your gracious communities. I will sincerely miss every one of you.I am pleased and saddened at the same moment as I announce my retirement.

I’ll Take the Oldies I remember when my family bought their first TV (black and white of course).  It was so exciting to watch. We were limited then on channels, and it took a very funny metal thing placed on the roof to make it work.

Please Don’t Climb! As I looked across the street this morning, I saw a herd of boys headed to the practice field. Yes, it’s that time...football season. In 2007, we had an ex-student who wanted to donate something very special for our football stadium.

School’s Coming! If you ask the question, “Are you excited about school starting,” you may get some different answers. The answers range from “I can’t wait” to “I hate school.”  That second one bothers me. I remember elementary as being really great. I moved here in my fourth grade year.

I’m running a little late, but I did want to say “Congratulations” to all of our 2019 graduates. What a wonderful time in your life.  Many of you will be headed off to colleges for continued education, and you will be making new friends.

If you were watching Fox News this past week, you may have seen that our little town of Albany, Texas landed a place on their broadcast.  The story was about a homeowner near Albany having trouble with his cable system. He crawled under his house looking for the problem.

I hope all of you had a nice spring break last week. At least we got a few days of pretty weather. I know all the parents were glad to see the sunshine. I took a short trip to Aledo to visit my closest grandchildren – Alex, Henry, Ben, and Anna.  Henry and Ben both had birthdays.

What did we do before cell phones? Well, that’s an easy question to answer. Most of us carried on conversations talking face to face. Imagine that!  Sometimes we would even visit  over the backyard fence. WOW! When was the last time you did that?

Can you believe it’s already March? It’s the month of celebrating spring breaks, warmer weather, and watching all of our trees and flowers begin to bloom again. I think we have all had it with winter. I wonder if we will really have spring weather and spring temperatures during spring break.
