Look at Jesus

“While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him. Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”” (Luke 5:12–14, NIV)

Lately, I have been pondering the condition of humankind almost daily. I try to step back and look at humanity and envision how our Great Creator must see His incredible creation. I must admit that I have concluded that we must be breaking His heart more days than not.

The reasons that bring me to this conclusion have nothing to do with events happening on a world level, wars, disease, or agendas. The main reason I surmise The Lord’s heart must be breaking in two is how we treat one another.

One of the underlying themes of the Bible is the loss of home and the search for another. It began with Adam and Eve leaving the Garden of Eden. Then, at the Tower of Babel, the Lord scattered the people over the face of the Earth. Those two losses occurred because of sin.

But the next two occurred because of hope. Abraham left his father’s house and the Children of Israel left Egypt because of God’s promise to lead them to new homes in the Promised Land.

“When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’” (John 2:3)

After Jesus was baptized and had begun his work of saving sinners like you and me, he was invited to attend a wedding. Jesus, along with his mother and a few of his disciples, accepted the invitation.

In those days, as it should still be today, a wedding called for a great celebration. At the very first wedding, when God brought the bride Eve to her groom in the Garden of Eden, Adam cried out with joy, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh!”

We have a wild year ahead of us!

President Trump begins his second presidency. God set him in office. He is not perfect, as you and I are not. But God is going to use him mightily!

God is getting ready to bring forth many things this year. Hang on in faith!

You will see breakthroughs in science, AI, and more. You will see governments changing worldwide. You will see signs and wonders as well as hear them. And you will say, “What is that?” It is the Lord Jesus trying to get your attention, all of mankind.

Look to the Lord Jesus! Trust Him!

Words about the Word - Loyal Love

“Loyal Love”

By Michael Atmar - Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church

Who is the most loyal friend you have ever known? If you have someone that immediately comes to mind, you are very blessed indeed. Friendship that is centered on the Lord Jesus and that stands the test of time is a precious gift from God that should not be taken lightly. I was reflecting on this recently while reading through the Book of Ruth in the Old Testament with some of our high school students. Do you remember Ruth’s story?

letter to the editor

— Warnings helped avoid wreck scene — Dear Editor: I just wanted to give a shout-out to the folks around here that were driving towards Abilene this early this morning and flashed their lights at me as I was traveling towards Albany. They were giving me a warning about the bad wreck that was ahead of me in the fog.
