Albany News

If you were watching Fox News this past week, you may have seen that our little town of Albany, Texas landed a place on their broadcast.

The story was about a homeowner near Albany having trouble with his cable system. He crawled under his house looking for the problem. What he found was definitely not a cable problem but a rattlesnake problem.

The rattlesnake experts came and cleared out 45 snakes.

I guess that could be called a real RATTLESNAKE ROUNDUP.

I thought I had a problem last summer. I was getting ready for bed, turning out all of my lights, when I saw what looked like a shoelace on my den floor. I turned my kitchen light back on and the shoelace moved.

I calmly (not really) stepped out into my garage and picked up my long handle hoe. My plan was to WHACK it hard, but that would mess up my new beautiful wooden floors.

My next action was to get out the longest butcher knife I had and use it. I went over, closed my eyes, and cut the snake in half. The problem was that the parts kept moving.

Next action, I sprayed it with wasp spray. Lastly, I cut it up in many pieces, then cleaned up the mess.

I’m embarrassed to say that the snake was only 12 inches long.

Well, all I can say is....a snake is a snake....PERIOD.
