Early voting underway for run-off

New coronavirus case reported

By Donnie A. Lucas Eight new tests for the COVID-19 coronavirus were administered by the county’s two health clinics last week, with one positive result, one negative, and six still pending.

GENE JUMPER

Bobby “Gene” Jumper was born in 1930 in Kokomo, Eastland County, Texas.  While in high school, in 1947, he met LaDell Faught. The two married on Dec. 23, 1949. Soon after, Gene enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Korea in 1952. He served in the Army for eight years.

County moves ahead with paving project

By Donnie A. Lucas The Shackelford County Commissioners Court opted to leave the current county-wide burn ban in force, took the first step in reducing the speed on another county road and voted to move ahead with repaving the courthouse parking lot during a meeting on Monday.

Long ball event set June 29

By Lynsi Musselman Albany High School baseball parents will host a school approved ‘Long Ball’ fundraiser on Monday, June 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the high school baseball field. Local baseball mom Tara Chapman said the players started getting pledges last week and will take them until the fundraiser.
