OJAC donations could be doubled

The board of trustees at the Old Jail Art Center has asked potential donors to consider contributing now, during the museum’s current ongoing Annual Appeal, to double the effect of their generosity.

Lady Lions to host holiday tournament

The varsity and JV Lady Lions split games at home last week, both falling to the Goldthwaite Lady Eagles and then both beating the Throckmorton Lady Greyhounds. The teams have been idle for the Christmas break, but the varsity will resume action at a local tournament on Thursday and Friday.

Boys back on court this week

The Lion varsity basketball team got off to a late but successful start last week, defeating the visiting Abilene Hawks. The Lions have had a week-long break for Christmas, returning to the court on Friday at the Windthorst Tournament. Albany is scheduled to play Vernon at 2:00 p.m.

McIntire receives service award

Monte McIntire of Gunsight was recognized by the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board for his 30 years of service as a board member for the Lower Clear Fork of the Brazos Soil and Water Conservation District.

Dates for winter hunting seasons reported

Licensed hunters ages 16 years and younger have opportunities this winter and spring to sharpen their skills and bring home some whitetail and turkey trophies, and adult hunters still have time to harvest wild game.  The regular season for dove continues until Jan. 14, duck season until Jan.

Moran girls post 2nd win

The Lady Bulldogs brought home their second win of the season on Friday, Dec. 14 with a 26-23 victory over the visiting Throckmorton Lady Greyhounds. The high school girls were off a week for Christmas, but are back on the court at the Dec.27-29 Munday Tournament.
