Patsy Braddy
Patsy Lynn “Peacock” Braddy, passed gracefully on Dec. 18, with her loving husband, Gerald, at her bedside.
Patsy was born Nov. 18, 1945 to Benjamin Franklin Peacock and Clara Mae “Trammell” Peacock in Breckenridge, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers; Billy Briscoe, Johnny Briscoe, Dean Peacock, George Peacock, and one sister Margaret Reagor.
Patsy, most affectionately called “Granny,” was best known for her nurturing nature and infectious laugh. She loved to share funny jokes with friends and tell wild stories about her younger days. She threw her energies into being a good wife, mother, and friend.
Patsy married her sweetheart, Gerald, on Aug. 22, 1964. Together they shared one son, Larry, and 54 years of grand adventures.
They enjoyed traveling to see the nation’s most spectacular sites and she made it known she loved the mountains of Colorado the most.
Her niche in life was caring for friends and loved ones in many different capacities. It was not uncommon for her to open her home and heart to others.
Gerald and Patsy fostered children in their early adult lives. This was something she lovingly spoke about, and it had a profound effect on her life.
In her later years, she was called upon many times to stand watch over others as they passed from this world to the next. Patsy did so with unwavering loyalty and a servant’s heart.
Patsy’s most notorious passion was feeding people. She could not stand the thought of anyone being hungry and would immediately offer to feed you upon entering her home. She loved to read recipe books and would spend hours perfecting dishes to share with others.
Most of all, Patsy loved her family. She loved to spoil people and that included any friends her son or grandchildren might bring home.
She was a shining light to many and was never too busy to lend a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. It is impossible for her family to express how much she will be missed.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Dec. 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Albany, TX.
Patsy is survived by her husband Gerald Braddy of Albany; two brothers Troy Peacock and Benny Peacock; two sisters Jo Ann Dunlap and Mary Burdine; one son Larry Braddy and girlfriend Rebecca Bridges of Clyde, TX; two grandchildren Kayla Cogburn and husband Chris of Clyde and Keylan Braddy of Albany; three great-grandchildren Aylin Braddy of Stephenville, TX, and Kendall and Camille Cogburn of Clyde TX. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. PD
