OJAC donations could be doubled

The board of trustees at the Old Jail Art Center has asked potential donors to consider contributing now, during the museum’s current ongoing Annual Appeal, to double the effect of their generosity.

“An anonymous donor recognizes the importance and successes of the OJAC and has issued a generous challenge,” said executive director Patrick Kelly. “They will match contributions to the OJAC’s Annual Appeal dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000. Accept this challenge and double the impact of your gift!”

The OJAC is continuing its mission of providing art for all, according to Kelly.

“A few of the programs that your contribution will support include innovative and thought provoking exhibitions, educational programs that service 8,000 plus students each year, the SPOKEN: Ardon B. Judd Jr. Oral History Project, free family festivals, and adult workshops and lectures,” said the director. “Come and see all you help accomplish by visiting the OJAC soon!”

During 2018 the OJAC displayed exhibitions including Ron Watson: Order Among Chaos, Cam Schoepp: Broken/Time, René Treviño: A New Codex, Matt Kleberg: Warp and Weft, 1,460 Days of Collecting, and Two Worlds: The Reality of Abstraction

In addition, this year the Cell Series featured artists Helen Altman, Kelly O’Connor, and Lily Cox-Richard, while Texas Moderns on display included Bill Bomar and Sam Gummelt.

“The Annual Appeal is our primary fundraising endeavor,” said Kelly. “Your contributions help us to continue to provide art for all that is free for all through stellar exhibits, innovative education outreach, workshops, lectures, and numerous other events and services that rival larger urban art institutions.”

Gifts can be made by visiting theojac.org online or by sending donations to The Old Jail Art Center, 201 South 2nd Street, Albany, Texas 76430.

“The key to our success has always been your committed support!” Kelly concluded.
