The Shackelford Youth and Livestock Association expects a full field for its Three-Person Scramble, scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, July 20-21 at Albany Golf Course. Proceeds from the event benefit theAssociation, which puts on the county livestock show.
There is still time to register for the Cubs Cheer Camp, which gives youngsters a look at what it takes to be anAlbany Lion cheerleader. The camp is scheduled for Monday-Wednesday, July 29-31.
The Albany Lions football program wrapped up its summer conditioning program Thursday, July 18 (today) with the final week including two sessions of sport-specific instruction. Head coach Denney Faith said the program enjoyed strong participation during its six-week run.
The Albany Athletic Booster Club began selling advertising for football programs this week. Booster Club president Cari Heatly said those who purchased ads last year will be contacted soon.
Four Albany Lion seniors were named to the All-Big Country Preps Baseball Team, including two first-team selections. The Lions went 19-4 this spring, earning a share of the District 8-2A championship and reaching the thirdround of the playoffs.
