TheAlbanyLionsbegan the second half of their sixweek summerconditioning program Monday, July 1. Athletes in the boys program were given a day off today for the Fourth of July holiday.
TheAlbanyLionscheerleading squad completed a three-day camp with a National Cheer Association instructor on Wednesday, June 26 in preparation for the upcoming school year. Albany cheerleaders earned a spirit stick, three blueribbons,andtwoteam awards in addition to individual honors during the camp, which was conducted by NCA instructor Ja’Mya Cole.
The Albany Athletic Booster Club has started preparations for the 202425 school year. Booster Club president Cari Heatly said a meeting to discuss advertising sales for football programs is planned for early July, but a time and date have not been decided yet.
Entries are being accepted for the Shackelford Youth and Livestock Association’s Three-Person Scramble, scheduled for Saturday-Sunday,July2021 at Albany Golf Course. Proceeds from the event benefit the Association, which puts on the county livestock show.

Albany Golf Club saw the completion of its latest facilities upgrade this week with the installation of paved cart paths throughout Albany Golf Course. Golf club president Ronnie Anderson said work was scheduled to conclude earlier this week on Tuesday, June 25.
Albany Little League’s 2024 season came to an end last week with both Majors and Minors All-Stars eliminated from the Texas West District 5 All-Star Tournament. Albany Little League hosted five games over three nights in the tournament, played Monday-Sunday, June 17-23.
The Albany varsity cheerleaders participated in an on-site summer camp this week, with all 10 who participated being nominated for NCA All-American. The camp was led by NCA instructor Ja’Mya Cole from the DFW area, whomadethenominations basedonskillssheobserved duringthethree-daycamp.
The girls portion of Albany’s summer conditioning program will take a break next week for the Fourth of July holiday, while the boys side will have a shortened week. The girls concluded their fourth week of the summer program Thursday, June 27 (today).
