Day Camp to end Friday

Reynolds named MVP of Aledo 10U team

The Aledo Black 10U All Stars baseball team recently earned second place in the USSSA World Series Tournament in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Alex Reynolds, son of Nicole and Jason Reynolds of Aledo and grandson of Bobbie Cauble of Albany, was named Offensive MVP by his tournament team.

Band to start rehearsals Aug. 5

By Kathy Thomson New Albany band director Richard Murrow has scheduled the first rehearsal of the eighth through 12th grade band for Monday, Aug. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the band hall. “Students should bring their instruments,” said Murrow.

FBC back from mission trip

By Kathy Thomson Six adult members of First Baptist Church’s mission team, along with three youth workers, spent the first week of July in Del Rio repairing a building during the congregation’s annual summer mission trip. “We had a good trip,” said team leader Dinty Bowman.

New hours set for Neighbors in Need

By Kathy Thomson Thanks to a new volunteer, Albany Neighbors In Need, which had only been open on Monday mornings from 10:00 a.m. until noon, is now also open from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

3-week Day Camp underway

By Kathy Thomson ResourceCare’s 19th annual Summer Day Camp began on Monday, July 8, and at least 165 campers are registered to participate over the course of the next three weeks, with at least 40 student workers and volunteers properly trained to help staff members keep an eye on the children.

Preparations made for special events

Various activities are planned to take place in Albany during the last two Fridays and Saturdays in June to coincide with the annual influx of visitors coming to town for the Fort Griffin Fandangle.

Moran VBS continues tonight

At least 24 children ranging from kindergartners through eighth graders are attending an “Into the Wilderness” vacation Bible school at the First Baptist Church in Moran this week. The VBS kicked off at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9 with participants heading outdoors to cook s’mores over a fire pit.

Moran seniors to graduate Friday

Ten Moran seniors will receive high school diplomas at commencement exercises tomorrow evening, while the MISD kindergarten and eighth grade graduation cere-monies will take place tonight. Commencement High school graduation will take place at 7:00 p.m.
