The Aledo Black 10U All Stars baseball team recently earned second place in the USSSA World Series Tournament in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Alex Reynolds, son of Nicole and Jason Reynolds of Aledo and grandson of Bobbie Cauble of Albany, was named Offensive MVP by his tournament team.

The World Series tournament was scheduled July 9-14 as a double elimination tournament, with teams from all over the southern United States. However, due to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Barry, the tourney was cut to a single elimination event.

In order to qualify, teams must have been a true All Star team, made up of spring season players who were selected by coaches for post-season play, and who played in a USSSA state tournament.

The Aledo Black 10U team won the state tournament held in Aledo at the end of June and advanced to the final game of the World Series on July 12 to face the Wesson, Mississippi All Star team. They ultimately couldn’t overcome an early lead by Wesson and lost 7-8.

Alex’s performance at the plate and stolen base count earned him the recognition of his coaches as the Offensive MVP.

The Aledo Black 10U’s overall record was 25-2. They scored an impressive 345 runs and allowed only 48 runs from opposing teams.
