ResourceCare case worker Makenzie Marshall reminded everyone that the annual Adopt-a-Buddy school supply program is underway, and she is hoping to hear from those that can use a little help, as well as those who can provide assistance for local students.

In just three weeks, tardy bells will ring out the start of a new school year, and parents who need a little help providing their child with school supplies can register to be included in the free program.

“They can come and pick up an application at the front desk at Resource Care,” said Marshall. “The deadline to turn in completed applications is Friday, Aug. 1. The forms should be turned back in at ResourceCare.”

Registered parents will be able to pick up their child’s supplies at the Youth Center between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 5 and 6.

ResourceCare is currently accepting donations for Adopt-a-Buddy, with residents asked to drop off supplies or donations at the center.

“We can use anything on the school supply lists including pencils, markers, crayons, spiral notebooks, and paper,” said Marshall. “Backpacks are always appreciated. We can also use donations for backpacks.”

Junior high and high school parents can register as well. Older students will receive basic paper, spiral notebooks, pens, pencils, and highlighters.

Local residents are encouraged to donate new school supplies, backpacks, or to make monetary donations to benefit the school supply program.

More information is available by calling the Resource Center at 325-762-2447.

Contributions can be addressed to ATTN Adopt-a-Buddy, PO Box 2435, Albany TX 76430.
