MHS athletes to run in Gordon

The cold and potentially icy weather postponed the start of the Moran track season by one week. Hico called off the junior high portion of their track meet scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 28, and MISD cancelled the trip. Gordon ISD postponed their track meet from Monday, March 4 until today, March 7.

Ladies benefit from tough tourney

The Lady Lion softball team won only one out of five games at the Stephenville tournament last week, playing against a tough slate of all larger teams. Albany traveled to Bangs on Tuesday, bringing back a 16-6 win from only their second non-tournament game of the season.

Track season to get underway today

The high school track season officially opens Thursday (today) at the Clyde meet, and Albany coaches are hoping to enter a strong field of competitors. Field events start at 3:30 p.m. with running events set for 6:00 p.m.

Little Dribblers to finish

Little Dribblers teams will end the 2019 season this Saturday, March 2, playing two games each in the old Albany High School gym, starting with Red taking on Blue at 8:30 a.m. Results from the third week of play, Saturday, Feb. 23 are listed below.

Lions’ basketball run ends at area

The Lion basketball team played even for three of four quarters against Sundown Friday, but couldn’t make up for a 10-point spread in the second that signaled the end of the season with a 53-41 loss in the Region I area playoff at Colorado City.

Lions bring home bi-district crown

It wasn’t a “lights out” type of game, but then again it was. The Lion basketball team won a Region I Class 2A bi-district game on Tuesday in Bangs, beating Christoval, 46-43, after the bout was moved from the original location in Coleman due to an electrical outage.

Young Lady Lions gain playoff experience

The Lady Lion basketball team proved just how far they have come this season, winning a bi-district title and leading at one point Friday in the Region I-2A area playoff before things went wrong.

Lions receive state honors

Five Albany Lion football players were selected for the Class 2A all-state team selected by the Texas Sports Writers Association recently. Seniors Ryan Hill and Cameron Dacus both received first team picks, while fellow senior Payne Hebel was named to the third team.
