By Donnie A. Lucas The varsity Lady Lion basketball team lost both district games last week as the District 10-2A race starts in earnest. The girls traveled to Stamford on Tuesday, coming home with a 52-28 loss. Details will be reported next week.

By Donnie A. Lucas Both the varsity and JV Lions basketball teams split games with district opponents last week, beating Anson but losing to Cisco. Albany was on the road in Stamford Tuesday, Jan. 12, with the varsity winning an important game 65-44 to put their district record at 3-2.

By Donnie A. Lucas The junior high basketball teams will be back in action for the first time since the Christmas break on Thursday. The Cubs will host Abilene Christian School starting at 5:30 p.m., while the girls will play ACS in Abilene, also beginning at 5:30 p.m.

By Donnie A. Lucas The varsity Lady Lions won a pair of district games over the holiday break, boosting the team to 2-1 in District 10-2A action. Albany traveled to Cisco on Tuesday, Jan. 5 as the first half of district play resumed following the Christmas break.

By Donnie A. Lucas The Lion varsity basketball team opened district play just before the Christmas break with a one-point loss to Hawley, but they chalked up a mark in the win column at the end of the break with a win over Hamlin last Saturday.

By Donnie A. Lucas Both the Lion and Lady Lion varsity teams came up short last week, but both JV squads brought home victories. All four teams were in action Tuesday, Dec. 22 in Hawley, which was the second district game for the girls and the district opener for the boys.

By Donnie A. Lucas The Cubs and Lady Cubs split games against Anson on Monday, with the seventh grade boys and the White team girls both earning wins. All four squads will take a three-week break for the Christmas holidays, returning to action on Thursday, Jan. 7.

By Sandy Morris The Moran Lady Bulldogs varsity basketball team traveled to Kopperl on Tuesday, Dec. 8, which was a change in the original schedule due to COVID issues.  The girls came up short, losing 34-32.
