JULIAN JONES

Julian Winifred Jones, age 56 of Albany, Texas passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 at Bethel Assembly in Albany, officiated by longtime pastor and friend Alan Youngblood.

Julian Jones was born July 5, 1963 in Dumas, Texas. His parents were Joe and Armitta Jones of Albany, Texas. He graduated from Albany High School with the class of 1981.

He was known for his strength, athletic ability, strong work ethic, and willingness to help anyone in need.

C.L. MILLER

C.L. Miller, age 95, beloved father and granddad, left this world for heaven on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019. He was born on April 26, 1924 in Parks Camp, Texas to Colonel Leander Miller and Fannie Elizabeth Thompson Miller. 

C.L. spent his early years at Parks Camp and spoke fondly of many friends there and of attending grade school there. He later attended schools in Breckenridge and Moran High School.

JERRY DAVIS

Jerry Davis, age 75 of Breckenridge, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 18 at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Mark Wilcox officiating. Interment followed in the Hart Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. 

Jerry Keith Davis was born Aug. 20, 1943 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to his parents, Glenn Roe Davis and Lorene Heatley Davis.

Bobby Joe McCoy

Bobby Joe McCoy, 81, of Abilene and formerly of Albany and Cisco, passed from this life Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019 in Abilene. 

Bobby will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held at the Feed Store in Albany on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Bobby was born in Cisco, the son of James David and Willie (Barton) McCoy. He attended school in Cisco until he had to start working to help support his family. He worked as manager and part owner in multiple businesses in Cisco, Albany, and Abilene.

Jim Stuart, 70 of Albany, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019 at his home. Celebration of his life was held Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019 at the First Christian Church of Albany, with Dennis Patience and Brad McBee officiating the service. Interment followed in Lamesa, Texas at the Dawson County Cemetery.

BOBBY YORK

Bobby Lester York was born Sept. 16, 1943 to Faye Stotts and Lester York in Ft. Worth and he passed away on Aug. 8, 2019 at his home in Moran. 

He was raised by his Granny, Ima York Parrish. Bobby was a carpenter by trade. In 2011, Bobby moved to Moran to be close to his sister, Jo Ann Stewart, until her passing in 2016. He remained in Moran and loved to sit on his porch and watch the Hwy 6 traffic in Moran. He loved his two dogs, Coffee and Buttermilk.

Mary Ellen Webb –known for her cooking, her love of Albany, Texas, her service in the U.S. Marines in World War II, and her reign as the family matriarch – died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019. She was 98 and rather proud of it.

AUDDRENA SMITH

Auddrena Lee West Larance Smith, 95, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019 at Albany Church of Christ in Albany, Texas.

Auddrena was the oldest of six children born to Vallie Corbett and Lorena Bell Freeman West on Sept. 6, 1923 in Lueders, Texas. She grew up in Lueders and graduated from Lueders High School in 1941.

PERRY SIMMONS

Perry Duff Simmons, 54, of Azle, passed away on Friday, Aug. 2, 2019 in Weatherford. 

Funeral services cele-brating Perry’s life were held Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at the Springtown United Methodist Church in Springtown, Texas. Burial followed at the Veal Station Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family.

James “Monroe” Lawrence

James Monroe Lawrence, age 85, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2019 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas. Monroe requested that there not be a funeral service since he donated his body to medical research.

Monroe was born north of Breckenridge, Texas on the Sayles Place on July 10, 1934 to Albert D. Lawrence and Pearl Crudgington Lawrence. He was one of nine children born to his parents.

Monroe attended schools in Albany and Breckenridge, then ultimately graduated high school from Abilene High in 1952.
