One new teacher was hired and two resignations accepted during a May 20 meeting of the Albany school board.

A blood drive is scheduled to take place in Albany this afternoon, May 23, and Hendrick Regional Blood Center (formerly Meek Blood Center) will park its bloodmobile at First Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Fandangle practices are going well, but some minor scheduling changes have been made, according to artistic director Lorna Ayers.  “Indian practice on Wednesdays will be at 7:30 p.m. from now on instead of 8:00 p.m.” Ayers said. “I encourage everyone to go online and get a new rehearsal schedule.

A monthly country and western musical will get underway this month on Saturday, May 25 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Moran Community Center. Moran singer-songwriter M.L. “Marty” Clifford is coordinating the new event, which will probably be held on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Paul Cornelius with the Discovery Center Creation Museum  will speak at the Albany United Methodist Church this Sunday, teaching about Creation.  He and his family will eat breakfast with church members at 9:30 a.m. and then meet with Sunday School classes at 10:00 a.m.

The Fort Griffin State Historical Site is hosting “Trail Driver Cooking: Historic Foodways of the Western Trail,” a special outdoor cooking event, on Saturday, May 25.
