Albany News

Shackelford County elected officials met for a routine session on Tuesday morning, May 28 that was postponed one day from the usual meeting time because of the Memorial Day holiday.

After agreeing that there should be no change in the burn ban, which is not active at this time, the commissioners moved through some other agenda items.

Online Auction

At their last session, elected officials had discussed disposing of some unused equipment through an online auction.

Eddie Edington of Oil Turtle Sales was present at Tuesday’s meeting to hand out information about how the auction worked.

After a review and discussion, all court members indicated they would like to use a local company.

A motion was made by Precinct 1 commissioner Steve Riley to utilize Oily Turtle Sales as the county’s auction representative.

Walker-Sayle Unit

County judge Bob Skelton told commissioners that the Walker-Sayle Unit will have a new warden as of June, and he asked that commissioners make plans to welcome him and let him know how clients have helped get several projects done in Shackelford County.

Skelton also mentioned that work on the Gazebo is almost finished, with the commissioners discussing the possibility of adding lights to the gazebo with a timer.
