It’s almost deadline time for Santa letters and holiday essays, ideally turned in by Dec. 1, if they are going to be included in the Christmas issue published by onThursday,Dec.21.
After supplementing academic endeavors at Albany schools over the past four years, the Albany Academic Booster Club has initiated a $125,000 fundraising campaign to continue providing assistance where needed in the future. Over the last four school years, the ABC has made a total investment in academic programs of almost $133,000, according toABC chair Tamara Trail.
TheChristmasshopping season started this week in Albany with participating merchants handing entry tickets for drawings to be held on Saturday, Nov. 25.
Commissioners to install markers Kathy Bales presented several projects and requests on behalf of the Shackelford County Historical Commission during Monday’s meeting of the county commissioners. Commissioner Lanhan Martin said he would install markers at Moran, stating that he had already obtained permission from landowner Alice Branham to place the marker just inside the boundaries of her property and outside of the right-of-way.
Nancy Smith Elementary School fifth graders packed a lot of activities into a three-day, two-night field trip last week when they took part in the Camp Grady Spruce Outdoor EducationProgramatPossum Kingdom Lake. Accompanying the 34 students were NSES principal John Gallagher and teachers Leslie Neve, Candy Balliew, and William Vaughan.
