Eight students from Moran’s dual-credit advanced animal science class visited the 6666 Ranch at Guthrie to tour equine facility and breeding program.
Superintendent John Denson said the group was escorted by Eric Van Reet, the ranch’s stallion manager.
“He gave us a thorough tour,” Denson said. “We got to see the stallions they have in service right now and some of the history of the 6666. We got to see their feeding operation and the way they buy feed.”
The tour included a stop at the ranch’s veterinary lab.

The Moran Bulldogs ran into a buzzsaw Friday, Sept. 29, falling 52-0 at state-ranked Rochelle.
Moran (2-4) plays its final nondistrict game at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 against Vernon Northside at Bulldog Field.
Against Rochelle, which was ranked No. 8 by sixmanfootball.com and No. 10 by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, the Bulldogs managed 130 total yards.
Ellis Hise was 8 of 13 passing for 63 yards and Garrett Hamilton went 4 of 6 for 20 yards.

For the second time this season, turnovers were detrimental for the Albany Lion junior varsity football team.
Albany lost the ball four times Thursday, Sept. 28 in a 35-12 loss to Cisco at Robert Nail Memorial Stadium.
“Our kids played hard,” JV coach Rod Britting said. “It wasn’t a lack of effort. Up until their last touchdown, we were playing hard. We just needed a couple of breaks and didn’t get them.”

The Albany Junior High Lady Cubs volleyball teams split a pair of matches Monday, Oct. 2 at Hawley in their final road trip of the season.
The Lady Cubs play their last three dates at home, starting Thursday, Oct. 12, against Bangs. The Silver team will play at 4:30 p.m., followed by the White and Red teams.
Just the White and Red teams played at Hawley on Monday.
The White won in three sets 19-25, 25-17, 15-10.

Albany cross country runners got their final tune-up before district competition Sept. 27 at Dublin.
Albany will compete at the District 10-2A meet Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Hawley. High school races start at 9:00 a.m. with junior high runners taking the course at 4:00 p.m.
The top three varsity teams and the top 10 individuals at the district meet advance to the Region II-2A meet Oct. 23 at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.
At Dublin, Albany had just three varsity runners due to injuries and illness.

The Albany NFL Flag Football League completed its third week of play this week with one team in each age group coming in undefeated.
The league has 101 players split among 12 teams in three age groups. Games are being played Mondays and Tuesdays at the Albany High School baseball field.

Entries are still being accepted for the Albany Kiwanis Club’s 16th annual John Rose and Jim Law Memorial Albany Kiwanis Charity Golf Tournament and Fajita Fiesta.
The event, which benefits the Albany K Charity Scholarship Fund, is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20 at Albany Golf Course.
Kiwanian Zach Maberry said eight spots remain for the morning flight, which will tee off at 8:30 a.m., but just one slot is still open for the 1:30 p.m. afternoon flight.
“We are still looking for some sponsors,” Maberry said.
