Eight students from Moran’s dual-credit advanced animal science class visited the 6666 Ranch at Guthrie to tour equine facility and breeding program.

Superintendent John Denson said the group was escorted by Eric Van Reet, the ranch’s stallion manager.

“He gave us a thorough tour,” Denson said. “We got to see the stallions they have in service right now and some of the history of the 6666. We got to see their feeding operation and the way they buy feed.”

The tour included a stop at the ranch’s veterinary lab.

“A company was trying to sell the veterinarian a sonogram machine,” Denson said. “We got to see them use the sonogram on a mare. We learned a lot about breeding technology.”

The group also got a look at locations used for filming the TV series “Yelllowstone.”

“The kids got to see some places they’ve seen on TV,” Denson said.

Fire Prevention

Moran ISD will observe Fire Prevention Week next week.

“On Thursday (Oct. 12), the Moran Volunteer Fire Department is going to do a presentation,” Moran principal Jo Hise said.

Halfway There

Moran concludes the third week of the second six weeks this week. Hise said progress reports will go out next week.

The six weeks will end Thursday, Oct. 26.
