The Albany Student Council will host a blood drive at the secondary campus next Thursday, Nov. 8 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., and to help students understand the importance of donating blood, Meek bloodmobile representative Frances Baker will speak at the high school assembly this Friday, Nov.

Red Ribbon Week is underway at the Moran Independent School District, and students have been encouraged to dress up for the special theme days this week. On Monday the theme “I won’t get mixed up with drugs!” was reinforced by “mixed-matched” clothes.

The Moran Lady Bulldogs ended regular district play at home, on senior night, with a win against Woodson on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Moran won in four sets 25-9, 25-14, 19-25, 25-10, and qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 1994.

Winning the fourth annual Junior Garcia Golf Tournament that took place at the Albany Golf Course on Saturday, Oct. 27 was The Wolf Pack, made up of Jason Gardner, Jeff Balliew, Ronnie Kitchens, and Mike Reddin. The second place team was led by Charles Barrett, and Clint Chapman’s team took third.

Bette Irene Salters Stone, 89, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Bowie. Family received friends on Tuesday evening, Oct. 30, 2018 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Former Albany resident and pastor Donald Earl Wirsdorfer Jr. passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at the age of 83.  The celebration of life service will be Saturday, Nov. 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Ridglea Christian Church, 6720 Elizabeth Lane, Fort Worth, Texas.
