Veterans are invited to attend a special Veterans Day Assembly hosted by the secondary school next Friday, Nov. 9, in the high school gym starting at 10:00 a.m.

The program will open with the Presentation of Colors by local Boy Scouts, followed by the National Anthem played by members of the Albany Junior/Senior High School band.

Student Council president Ryan Hill will introduce the veterans.

Other Council members will lead pledges to the American Flag and the Texas Flag, and will present a patriotic poem.

Third grade students from Nancy Smith Elementary School have been practicing a song they will perform during the program.

Immediately following the program, FCCLA and student council members will host the veterans and their families in the foyer for refreshments.

Organizers are expecting around 50 guests, including veterans and their families, and are asking that guests let the AHS office know they are planning to attend in order to get a count for chairs in the special section, as well as for the reception after the assembly.

If any veterans did not receive an invitation, they are encouraged to contact the school office and get added to the mailing list for future programs.

The AHS office number is 325-762-3974.
