Red Ribbon Week is underway at the Moran Independent School District, and students have been encouraged to dress up for the special theme days this week.

On Monday the theme “I won’t get mixed up with drugs!” was reinforced by “mixed-matched” clothes.

Camo attire on Tuesday encouraged students to “Join the fight against drugs!”

Students could dress Wednesday as their favorite character for “My character is too great for drugs!”

“Stomp out drugs!” is the dress-up theme for today, and everyone was urged to wear boots.

On Friday the halls should be filled with children dressed as tacky tourists for “Lei off drugs!”

The national “Red Ribbon Campaign” is designed to draw as much attention as possible to the problems of drug and alcohol abuse and its prevention. The theme for 2018 is “Life Is Your Journey, Travel Drug Free.”

The Moran PTO sponsored the annual Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Moran Bulldog activity center. Hamburgers and chips were served, and candy and fireman hats were among the goodies available for the trick or treaters.

Last Thursday, representatives from Cisco College came to Moran to help senior students and their parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and to offer Dual Credit planning to all high school students interested in the opportunity.

Bulldog Stadium is sporting a new United States flag that was donated to the school by the Moran American Legion.

“Thank you, veterans,” said superintendent Danny Freeman.
