Thelma Burge

Thelma Irene Burge, 98, of Albany TX was called home and embraced by her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020. She was born on Feb. 19, 1922 in Quinlan, TX and was the daughter of James and Ethel Henrise, Jr. She married Floyd Cecil Burge in 1938 and the two made Albany their home.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, at the Albany Cemetery. The service will be directed by Baum-Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home, with Chuck Sheppard officiating. 

Rena Mae Shack, age 83 of Moran, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020. Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 22 at Bethel Assembly with Jeff Pleasant officiating. Interment followed in the Albany Cemetery.  

Rena Mae Booth was born Oct. 3, 1936 in Stephens County to parents, William John Booth and Ola Mae Beasley Booth. She attended schools in Breckenridge. 

On April 12, 1953, Rena married Billy Jack Shack in Ranger, Texas. She and her husband started Shack Well Service in 1964 in Albany. 

Archie Jean Elkin Buchanan, age 95, of Carlsbad, NM went into the arms of Jesus on Feb. 8, 2020 at Abilene Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Tonkawa, OK to Albert Buller and Auttie Belle Wade (Buller). 

As a small child they moved around Texas and Oklahoma during the dust bowl for work. During that time, they added three more daughters to their family and finally settled in Coyle, OK where Archie Jean graduated high school with honors in 1942. She then went on to graduate from Oklahoma University with a degree in social work.

Barbara Palmore, age 80 of Albany, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2020. 

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Albany Cemetery with Rev. Paul Johnston officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21 at Morehart Mortuary.

Landon Eric Meadows, 20, of Stephenville, Texas passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020 in Stephenville.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Albany, conducted by Thomas Aly.

Other arrrangements were made by Girdner Funeral Home, Abilene.

Born March 15, 1999 in Abilene, Texas, Landon  graduated from Albany High School in 2017.

Ruth L. McCauley, 96, of Albany, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2020 at the Bella Vista Nursing Home in Breckenridge, Texas. Girdner Funeral Home is making arrangements. 

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020 at the Albany Church of Christ.

Nancy Green was born on April 18, 1928, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Polly and Gene Ebersole. After a long and adventurous life, she died on Feb. 6, 2020, at the James L. West Center for Dementia Care in Fort Worth, Texas, just a few weeks shy of her 92nd birthday. 

Wayne Chapman, age 74 of Albany, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, Feb. 7, at Bethel Assembly with Rev. Anthony Ceder and Clint Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Morehart Mortuary of Albany.

Joan Stilwell, age 83 of Albany, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020. 

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene with Pastor Tim Trimble officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6 at Morehart Mortuary.

Donny “Treetop” Shawn, age 80 of Albany, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30 at the United Pentecostal Church in Albany with Bro. Lee Hail officiating. Interment will follow in the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. 

Donny Lee Shawn was born Oct. 10, 1939 in Bridgeport, Texas to parents James Shawn and Mary Elizabeth Parson Shawn. He graduated from Abilene High School. On April 24, 1960, he married Helen Cooper in Albany, Texas.
