Astronomy fans can learn how to take photographs of the night sky this weekend at Fort Griffin State Historic Site. The site will host a Milky Way photography workshop Friday-Saturday, April 5-6.

Albany and Shackelford County avoided the large hail that a Monday afternoon thunderstormdumpedonother parts of the Big Country, but there were a few unofficial reports of damage caused by straight-line winds. In fact, even though the sheriff’s office didn’t receive any calls about the storm, Albany ended up at the top of the list forthehighestwindgustcaused by the storm, which moved through Texas and Oklahoma on up to Kansas and Missouri.

MoranFFAteamscompeted inmeatjudgingand veterinary science contests Wednesday, March 27 at the Hill Country CDE in Fredericksburg. In meat judging, Ellis Hise, Caleb York, and Cotten Campbell placed 14th out of 31 teams with a score of 1,532.
