The Ragin’ Red Band completed the biennial spring trip on Sunday, returning from Branson, Missouri after performing at the Titanic Museum, attending a musical show, andspendingadayatSilver Dollar City. “The trip went very smoothly, and the kids all had a blast,” director William Vaughan said.

Albany High’s one-act play cast and crew presented their production of “Oz” at district competition in Haskell last week, and while failing to advance to the bi-district round, several members of the cast and crew did receive recognition. Junior Landon Balliew was named to the All-Star Cast for the district for his role as the Lion.

Rehearsals for the 2024 edition of the Ft. Griffin Fandangle will start next week with a couple of changes affecting cast members.

A semi-truck load of hay left Albany Friday headed to the Texas Panhandle to help farmers and ranchers who had wildfires devastate their land and destroy homes and outbuildings in most cases. Organized by Goodnight Steak House inAlbany, the shipment of 32 large round bales of hay left for Canadian, Texas in the afternoon after volunteers loaded up the donations.

Shackelford County 4-H members Faith, Grace, and Cody Fry competed Monday, March 4 in the horse judging contest at the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo. Faith Fry placed fourth with Grace Fry eighth in “reasons,” but the team did not place.
