It took two trips over three days, butAlbany track and field athletes managed to get in a full meetlastweekatClyde’sGolden Shoe Relays. The Lions and Lady Lions make their final outing before the District 10-2A meet Friday, March 29 when they host the Roaring Lion Relays.

Cross Plains Tuesday The Albany Lady Lions will resume their softball season at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 with Cross Plains visiting Webb Park.

The Albany golf teams hit the links for another busy week in preparation for district competition. The District 10-2A tournament is scheduled for Monday-Tuesday, April 1-2 at Shady Oaks Golf Course.

Albany Golf Club has set its tournament schedule for the 2024 season with nine events scheduled from May to October. First up is Christmas for Kids, a new threeperson scramble scheduled for May 18-19.

The Albany junior high track and field teams participated Friday, March 22 at Clyde. The Cubs and Lady Cubs will host the Cub Relays Thursday, March 28 (today) in their final meet before district.

TheAlbanytennisteam won two draws Tuesday, March 26 at the Parker County Peach Bowl Tournament in Weatherford. Alocal tourney Tuesday, April 2 will be played on newly resurfaced courts.

Two tennis doubles teams from Moran made their first outings of the spring at tournaments in Abilene and Zephyr. “We started off well,” coach Jo Hise said.

Moran FFA stood out Monday, March 25 at the Agriculture Engineering CDE in Abilene with an all-girl team competing in welding. The quartet of Kielar Carr,RayniVinson,Bradee Stautzenberger, and Jayla Bussell have been working under the tutelage of teacher Robert Stanley.

Moran high school athletes competed Friday, March 22 at the May track meet. The varsity boys scored four points with JV girls scoring two and JV boys one.

TheAlbany SoftballAssociation will take a second try at holding its opening ceremonies at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 29 at Webb Park.
