The 30th annual See You at the Pole is planned for Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Nancy Smith Elementary School and at Albany Junior Senior High.

See You at the Pole, a student-initiated, student organized, and student-led event, is a global movement of prayer where students meet at the flag pole before school on the fourth Wednesday in September.

Students gather to lift up friends, families, teachers, the school, and the nation in prayer, as well as to share the Gospel with non-Christian friends on campus.

The 2020 theme verse for the nationwide event is 2 Kings 23:25.

Ministerial Alliance president Jeff Turner said because of COVID19, there will not be any food served this year, and all students participating need to be dropped off at their respective campuses.

“The focus of SYATP in Albany will be to pray for our community and leadership,” Turner said. “Representatives from the Ministerial Alliance will be on both campuses during their event.”

AHS/AJHS Event

The high school and junior high participants will gather at 7:30 a.m. at the high school flag pole for a time of student-led prayer on the morning of the nationwide program.

AJSH principal Glen Hill said students are encouraged to attend but social distancing will be encouraged.

Hill added that it is preferred that only students be present this year at SYATP at the secondary campus.

 NSES Event

A separate event is planned at the elementary campus for students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

NSES principal John Gallagher said all students are invited to gather around the pole at 7:40 a.m.

Students are asked not to hold hands this year, and stand apart for social distancing.

Gallagher added that parents are invited, but it is not required for them to attend in order for their children to participate.

Moran ISD

Moran students are also planning a See You at the Pole event on campus at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
