Sales tax up for August, September

The city of Albany received a sales tax allotment of $48,272 from the state in August of 2018, up 12.37 percent from the $42,957 payment received in August of 2017, and received an allotment of $44,955 this September. The September payment is 1.76 percent less than the $45,763 sales tax allotment received from the state during the corresponding month in 2017.

Payments to date for the 2018 year to the city of Albany are $388,741, up by $41 (0.01 percent) compared to $388,700 received at the same time last year.

The city of Moran received a net payment of $1,211 in September and also earned an allotment of $1,730 in August, for a 14.62 percent increase from the $1,509 received in August 2017, but a decrease of 17.44 percent compared to the $1,467 payment in September 2017.

Payments to date for the 2018 year to the city of Moran are $15,223, up by 23.75 percent compared to 2017, when payments of $13,109 had been made.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that he has sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $738.8 million in local sales tax allocations for September, 10.5 percent more than in September 2017. These allocations are based on sales made in July by businesses that report tax monthly.

Hegar sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $842.7 million in local sales tax allocations in August, 8.2 percent more than in August 2017. 

The August allocations were based on sales made in June by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in April, May and June by quarterly filers.
