The annual orientation for new students and incoming seventh graders will occur on the same day as the secondary campus’ “Meet the Teacher” and open house.

The open house day is scheduled for Aug. 16, with a time to be determined.

“Band director Will Vaughan and I are working together to find a time that works for everyone,” principal Glen Hill said. “We want as many people possible to be able to attend the open house and the band’s Community Night.”

More information about the band’s Community Night can be found in another article in this week’s paper.

Those present for the orientation will learn about policy changes, as well as some of the procedures currently in effect at the secondary level.

At least one parent is asked to accompany their student, if at all possible.

Hill and other staff members will be available to answer questions new secondary students might have.

Hill also said anyone can attend the event to learn of any changes.

“We do have some new teachers this year and want to stress that all high school students can attend to meet our new teachers and learn about other school changes,” the principal said.

Any unregistered high school or junior high students who are new to the Albany school district should contact the principal’s office prior to the Aug. 16 meeting.

“So far, registration has been running smoothly, but we still encourage everyone to get registered as soon as possible,” Hill stated.
