Knox City administrator Glen Hill was approved as the new principal for Albany’s high school and junior high campus during an early morning special session of the Albany ISD board of trustees on Thursday, June 4.
Hill was one of 18 candidates for the position, with three selected for second interviews by a five-member committee made up of secondary staff members.
AISD superintendent Jonathan Scott conducted the final interviews and recommended Hill to the board on Thursday.
After a 45-minute session that included six of the seven trustees, Ginny Ivy made a motion to offer Hill a multi-year contract (two years) with a salary of $87,000. Kelly Head seconded the motion, which passed 6-0.
Hill, who met with the board that morning, accepted the offer.
“I’m very excited to have Glen as our principal of the secondary campus,” said Scott. “He brings with him a level of excitement about all aspects of our secondary campus. He is driven to be the best instructional leader possible.”
New Principal
Hill has been the high school principal in Knox City since 2018. Prior to that, he was secondary principal in Crosbyton from 2016-2018 and an assistant principal at Heritage Middle School in Frenship ISD from 2015-2016.
Hill has a small town background, graduating from Aspermont High School before obtaining his undergraduate degree from Hardin-Simmons University.
His wife Kelsea, a speech pathologist, graduated from high school at nearby Jayton.
Hill taught and coached at both Crosbyton and Frenship for five years before he finished his master of education and his superintendent certification at West Texas A&M University.
“My family and I are looking forward to being Albany Lions,” said Hill. “We have already felt so welcomed by the people we have met and those who have reached out to us. The pride of the town and community is very evident and we can’t wait to be a part of that.”
The Hills and their three-year-old son Whitten plan to move to Albany in the next couple of weeks so that he can formally begin his duties here by July 1.
